This client was very limited by space which required an extremely innovative design of the backyard, and is one of our best known examples of combining limited space with the functions required.
A small plunge pool was designed to hug the boundary and wrap around the adjoining gazebo, leaving just enough room to landscape around the pool for privacy purposes. Exercise swimming was not the purpose of this pool (given its limited size). Instead, what was required firstly was a small, natural plunge pool, simply to “cool down” in summer, and secondly to provide an entertaining area to compliment the substantial deck at the back of the dwelling.
The way the pool nestles into the corner of the block, the strategic position of the pool in relation to the sun, and the careful placement of the Balinese gazebo, all make for an extremely successful use of space within the restricted area allocated.
