The clients brief was to create a large pool and spa area incorporating both barbeque and bar areas. Also of paramount was the need for a facility for child supervision due to the considerable distance of the pool from the house and kitchen.
A main design feature of the project was a fishpond that wraps around the pool house, and adjoins the spa (only separated by glass) and allows you to view the fish through the glass panel from the spa.
Large retaining walls were necessary due to the contours of the land. The pool is also close to a boundary which has retaining walls 3.4m below the existing ground level on the lower boundary, and an extremely substantial beam was installed to prevent movement of the pool down the hill.
A barbeque area was nestled into the embankment which offers much needed sheltered area away from both wind and rain. The enclosed structure was constructed mainly to provide a sheltered supervision area, enabling the owners to have small children in the pool whilst enjoying the bar area.
